The mission of the Institute is to increase humankind's understanding, appreciation, and protection of our natural environment; particularly wildlife populations and wild landscapes. Our goal is to enable human beings to live in harmony with other species.

Paradise Valley Project

Paradise Valley objectives

  • Develop a landscape-scale (30m2 grid) least-cost-path model of core and movement habitat for a study area encompassing the upper Yellowstone River (Paradise Valley).
  • Develop models for elk and grizzly bear
  • Disseminate the results to conservation groups, local government, and land management agencies to assist in land-use planning decisions
  • Refine the models, if possible, to examine riparian corridors for other animals.
